Laryngitis

Inflammation of the larynx or the voice box is Laryngitis. This may later for a week. Avoid talking and smoking. The symptom is a horse voice and or a sore throat.Laryngitis is defined as inflammation of the voice box or larynx, which results in voice changes, for example, hoarseness or complete loss of the voice.

Inhale the vapors of hot water. Little eucalyptus oil may be added to hot water.

Steam inhalation of turmeric water is useful.

Put some black pepper powder to a cup of warm milk and drink the mixture twice a day.

Due to heavy smoking chronic Laryngitis may occur. Hence  avoid smoking and bad habits like pan chewing, gutkha etc.,

Causes of laryngitis include upper respiratory infection or the common cold; overuse of the vocal cords by talking, singing, or shouting; gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) causing reflux laryngitis; of ever smoking; exposure to secondhand smoke; or exposure to polluted air.

Laryngitis is contagious if it is caused by an infection.

The most common signs and symptoms of laryngitis are hoarseness, loss of voice, and throat pain.

Additional signs and symptoms of laryngitis in adults may include dry, sore throat, pain with swallowing, and a feeling of fullness in the throat or neck. If the laryngitis is caused by an infection, the affected person also may have of fever.

Symptoms of laryngitis can begin suddenly and usually get worse over a period of two to three days. Common symptoms of laryngitis include.

  • hoarseness
  • difficulty speaking
  • sore throat
  • mild fever
  • irritating cough
  • a constant need to clear your throat

Laryngitis is defined as inflammation of the voice box or larynx, which results in voice changes, for example, hoarseness or complete loss of the voice.
Infants and children can be prone to laryngitis if they’re frequently around other children. Both viral and bacterial infections can spread quickly from child to child. Laryngitis can also develop if your child yells or sings a lot. This causes bumps to form on their vocal cords.
If you notice your child’s voice is hoarse or weak or they say that their throat hurts, make sure they rest their voice. Also, have them drink fluids to ease possible viral laryngitis. Laryngitis usually goes away within a week.
If your child’s symptoms don’t improve or become worse, see their doctor. A doctor can determine if other factors are causing laryngitis or if antibiotics for a bacterial infection are needed.
