Rajinikanth’s ‘Kaala Karikaalan’ starts rolling
The principal shooting of superstar Rajinikanth’s next Tamil outing Kaala Karikaalan commenced here on Sunday. “Rajinikanth sir has also joined the sets. He left to Mumbai last evening from Chennai. This will be a week-long schedule where the makers will shoot some general scenes that require Mumbai as the backdrop,” a source from the film’s unit told IANS.

Mahesh Babu’s Spyder teaser to release on May 31
It seems the makers of Tollywood star Mahesh Babu’s upcoming bilingual movie have finally made up their mind on the release date of the film. The actor took to Twitter to announce to exciting news for the fans. “#SpyDer will come to you this Dussehra ! Let’s get the party started with the first glimpse on May 31st at 5 PM (sic),” he tweeted. A promo video giving the audience a glimpse of what the film is all about was long overdue. Meanwhile, Mahesh was last seen in Brahmotsavam that came out last year. His fans have not seen him in action on the big screen for more than a year now.

Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Awards have introduced a category, titled ‘Internationally Acclaimed Actress Award’, and its first recipient is fresh global star Priyanka Chopra. Priyanka’s name doesn’t come as a surprise as the actor has been creating waves internationally ever since her maiden American TV series Quantico premiered in 2015. Recently her Hollywood debut Baywatch released, and even though the film was largely panned by critics, Priyanka’s performance was noticed and praised in particular.

Popular VJ and serial actor Rio Raj was in a soup recently. The actor recently talked about an incident when his profile was misused for giving budding actors an opportunity in the industry. Recollecting this incident, Rio spoke to a website and said, “A guy called Frank called me over the phone. It was a conference call with two other girls. Frank told me that I was talking to them regularly and had promised to give them work. But the fact is I hadn’t even spoken to them. What is interesting is that one of the girls is a friend who has worked with me previously. There are several fake accounts floating in the internet and it is very easy to trick people.”
Thondan: Duty and the beast
Thondan establishes a relationship in the first few scenes itself – one between an ambulance driver (Mahavishnu, played by Samuthirakani) and his vehicle. “En amma sir,” he tells someone, pointing to the vehicle in which he’s saved – as we learn later – 1, 362 lives. He’s really earnest when he says that; you can see it in his eyes. This plays out moments after his introduction, a lengthy scene that unfurls at break-neck speed: Vishnu ferrying a patient to the hospital is stopped by some gangsters who just wouldn’t let him do his duty. He takes an alternative route and manages to save the patient on time.

Director Vignesh Shivan on Sunday surprised the fans of actor Suriya by sharing a still photo from his upcoming movie Thaanaa Serndha Koottam (TSK). The picture looks like an attempt to appease the fans, who seem to be trolling him asking for a glimpse of the film. “SurpriseSundayPic for the #SuperFans of @Suriya_offl sir #ThaanaaSerndhaKoottam #FirstLookSurprise innum sila naatkalil Memes podhum,” wrote Vignesh on his Twitter page.

Not only this; as per our source, there is one more song, a duet, which is yet to be shot. And this song will be shot at an exotic foreign locale.
Brindavanam: Celebrating life’s moments
Radha Mohan’s Brindavanam has got its vision and mission clear – to be heart-warming, funny and emotional at times. There is no overdose of any of these aspects. It has the ability to reach out to all sections of the audiences, and there’s one man behind that – comedian Vivek. Every best moment in the film belongs to him. Vivek (who plays himself) is on a personal trip to Ooty when he meets Kannan (Arulnidhi), a speech and hearing impaired hairdresser. Kaala: Rajinikanth starts shooting for Pa Ranjith’s film in Mumbai
Superstar Rajinikanth reached Mumbai last evening to begin shooting for his next film titled Kaala. The film directed by Pa. Ranjith will me mainly shot in the backdrop of world’s largest slum, Dharavi in Mumbai. Ranjith has assembled a team of versatile and renowned stars and technicians for his second directorial outing with the Thalaivar. Apart from the editor and producer of the film, Ranjith has retained all the members of the Kabali crew.
